HOW TO OVERCOME FEAR

The word "fear" comes from the word "phobos" and means "that which causes flight".  In other words, you run away from what you fear.  For example: arachnophobia is the fear of spiders.  If  you see a spider close to you, you may get scared and run away.

All "fears" seem to have two common elements.  One is nearness or proximity, and the other is power.  Here's the key to overcoming fear:

To Remove Fear, Simply Remove One of the Two Elements

Let's examine this principle using spiders as our example...
Nearness: you may fear spiders, but if there are no spiders close to you, the sensation of fear is gone.
Power: spiders may have power to bite, but if you place the spider in a glass cage you remove their power to bite you.  Again, no reason to fear!

THE KEY
Eliminating One of the Elements Will Always Eliminate the Fear!

Let's examine this principle using Satan as our example...
Jesus has broken Satan's power over you by shedding His blood on the cross of Calvary.  Satan may still be around, but his power over you is gone!

So why do Christians still fear the power of Satan? It's because they...

FEAR :  They Forget  Everything  And  Run

We forget what God's Word says.  We forget that Jesus bore our sins so we would not have to.  That He bore our worries so we could have His peace  We forget He paid the price for our infirmities so we could have His health! We forget how He broke the power of death and the devil over us. Although Satan may be near us - his power over us has forever been broken!

Colossians 2:15

Jesus disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them having triumphed over them!

While Fear may cause Flight - Faith causes Fight

  • 2 Timothy 1:7 You've not been given a spirit of fear!
  • James 4:7 Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee!
  • Luke 10:19 We have authority to trample over the enemy!
  • 1 John 4:4 Greater is He who is in you, than he who is against you!

So when you feel Satan beginning to attack, don't let fear overcome you.
Stand your ground and repeat the words of 1st John 5:18 loud and clear:

Satan, I'm a Child of God - AND YOU CAN'T TOUCH ME !
